I love food! I mean really love food! Food trucks always hold a special place in my heart. It's more than just the food. The people have great stories and it's a more personal experience. I have had some of the best food ever from food trucks, and Food Geek is definitely one of my favorites. The owners James and Laura Norman are some of the coolest people I've met.
They started there food truck a little over a year ago. I asked what's up with the name. How'd you come up with it. Well the story goes, James is a huge Star Wars and Star Trek fan and he also loves food. Laura calls him a geek and the rest is history! Food Geek!
I loved their story of how they met each other working at a restaurant and fell in love and have been cooking ever since. These personal stories only come from actually interacting with the person making your food. They are both very engaging and warm.
Let's get to my favorite part, the food!
The food was great! The ingredients all blended together nicely. It also helps that the meats are smoked by James daily. You can really taste the smokey flavor and it's truly mesmerizing. My hands down favorite would have to be the Cuban. The pork, ham and muenster cheese were great together, but the tangy mustard was the perfect touch. Oh that mustard! I don't know why my tastebuds were so fixated on mustard of all things but it really made the sandwich pop. I was in love with it with the first bite! I see why it's the best seller. The tacos were equally impressive, but that Cuban has been calling my name ever since!
I highly recommend you try Food Geek, especially if you want to try something new for lunch or while out enjoying the city. Stop by and tell them one901 sent you. I wouldn't send you anywhere that i wouldn't eat myself. I usually find them at Court Square each Thursday from 11-2, but you can find their schedule on their Instagram page @foodgeektruck or on their Facebook page by clicking here.
