I joined Memphis Downtown Neighborhood Association in their efforts with Memphis City Beautiful and Memphis River Warriors to clean up the riverfront on last Saturday. It was an awesome turn out of Memphians that really care about the city and the cleanliness of the river.
I met some great people and learned some fun facts about Memphis. Did you know Memphis City Beautiful is the nation's first beautification organization? They are going into their 86th year! That's something to be very proud about Memphis!
Also, Memphis River Warriors was started back in 2011, after the big flood, by a group of University of Memphis students. They do monthly cleanups around McKellar Lake, Wolf River, and the Mississippi River. It's also the largest river cleanup organization in the nation that's run by college students!
