I attended to the soft opening of the new Lyfe Kitchen located downtown in the Chisca Hotel. I've been to the Lyfe Kitchen on Poplar near Germantown before, so I knew what to expect. I would describe Lyfe Kitchen as trendy, health conscious food that actually tastes pretty good. Normally when I think of healthy eating, I think everything will taste like cardboard or lack any seasoning. Lyfe sort of bucks that trend.
I love the decor of the new Lyfe. It's not as crowded as the one in East Memphis, in my opinion. It has more of an intimate feeling than the lunch feeling of the other location. The only thing that I would possibly change about the interior is the lighting. It was really bright in there. If the lights were able to be a bit dimmer, it would be perfect!
Before I post the food pics, I wanted to talk about what I actually ate...the Farmhouse burger. I would like to say I'm a burger expert and that I can tell a good burger from a not so good one. This burger I'm a bit on the fence about. On one hand, I'm used to the juicy, greasy burgers and that's normally where I would tend to go when I want a burger. On the other side, this is a healthier option than what I'm used to. I'm going to be completely honest here, I didn't like the burger within the first bite. I was going to write it off, but i decided to try it again and the more I ate, the more I enjoyed it. I looked up and I was looking at an empty plate and wanting another. So I can honestly recommend the Farmhouse burger....with conditions.
Lyfe Kitchen is a great option if you're looking for great healthy food in the downtown area. Also, the prices are great! Usually healthy food comes with a premium price tag, but these prices are very reasonable and give you a great bang for your buck. Go Check out Lyfe Kitchen's menu over at http://www.lyfekitchen.com/
