The horror!! I missed my first Taco Tuesday for the first time in....well I don't really know how long, but it's been a while! Contrary to the song, the club didn't go up on a Tuesday either. No tacos and no clubbing. Must have been a boring evening in Memphis. Nope!! Let's recap the adventure.
I'm a member of the Downtown Neighborhood Association and we held our monthly meeting in the Horseshoe Lounge of the FedEx Forum. The guest speaker was Memphis Grizzlies President Jason Wexler. I tried my hardest to get tickets to tonight's game; Kobe Bryant's last in Memphis. I was unsuccessful, but I did get to go out on the court!
From there I won this pretty cool BMW Championship cap. It's fitting because I actually drive a BMW. Don't know why but I felt like wearing it all night to gloat in my victory! Lol.
As I was leaving the meeting in my newly acquired hat, I got a Facebook Message from my good friend Michael Gross about a stand up comedy show at Brass Door. Gross said he would send ninjas if I didn't go, so I really had no choice! It was hosted by Doug Gillion with Kyle Kordsmeier and let me say this, it was funny as hell and only a $5 cover! That means more money for drinks!!! Or food, if you're into that sort of thing.
The comedy show line was Mark Brimble, Beth Poppins, Brad Sativa, Josh Wagner, Ron Love( winner of 2013 Funniest Person), and Mary Jay Berger
Rob Love killed it! This was my first time hearing of him and I was crying laughing. He will also be performing at Chuckles Comedy House on Thursday if you want to check him out! You definitely should.
And that was it. Fin. I had a really fun evening even though there was a raging monsoon outside.
The next stand up show at Brass Door is March 29th and will feature Sammy Anxer, Kate Lucas, Wes Corwin, and Katrina Coleman( founder and CEO of Memphis Comedy Fest)
fyi I'm still a bit sad about not having tacos.....
