If there's one thing I love more than events, it's good food. Food is pretty much my life and I know of some really good places that are a bit off the mainstream path. I prefer to go to local spots and try my best to avoid the chains.

My go to spot when I'm in the mood for Mexican food is always Las Delicias! I've been going here for years and it's never let me down!

Las Delicias had humble beginnings on Shelby Dr and Tuggle in 2003. They eventually moved to the Mendenhall location where they also produced their famous tortilla chips, which can be purchased in Krogers, Super Lo, and other grocers around Memphis. They opened their flagship restaurant on Park and Getwell in 2009 and the newest location on Quince near Lynnfield in 2012.

Margarita!!

Margarita!!

Fresh and healthy is the name of the game at Las Delicias. The vegetables are bought fresh daily from local Spanish markets. Nothing is deep fried. All food is cooked on a griddle with 100% vegetable oil. Even the margaritas are made fresh daily with real hand-squeezed limes! No mixes or powders and you can definitely taste the difference! Owner Antonio Martinez prides himself on making food that not only tastes great, but is healthy as well.

For this trip, I started out with the chips and salsa..the salsa is also made fresh daily from real vegetables. Ok let's talk about the chips, which are also made here locally. They are amazing. I can eat a whole bag of them and not feel ashamed about it. They are really that good! You could literally make a meal out of the chips and salsa!

Then I decided to have the guacamole. I'm not a fan of guacamole at all. I honestly pass on it each time it's offered to me, by Antonio persuaded me to give his a try and boy was I impressed! Wow! I've never had anything like it before! It went great with the chips as well! I might have a new favorite!

Tacos!!!

Tacos!!!

Next fun I decided it was taco time!! I got 2 of my regular faves, the pork chop taco covered in cheese, and 2 that Antonio recommended, the pastor taco and the Gringa.

The Gringa!!!

The Gringa!!!

I could go on for days talking about the Gringa! It was simply amazing! I think I've fallen in love with a taco!! It's the pastor with a trick up its sleeve. Maybe it was the flour tortilla it came in or the pineapple that created an experience I've never had before with a taco. At this point, this taco and I are going steady!

I highly encourage you to try out Las Delicias!! You will not be disappointed at all! I have nothing be good things to say about this place. Also, they are very reasonable!! You won't find a better bargain for what you get. They also features full bar, ample seating, and  a large outdoor patio at the Quince location that is perfect for sipping an ice cold margarita on a warm Memphis afternoon.

Go check them out and take home a bag of chips!! If you get the Gringa, you will see why I'm so in love!!
