For the Love of Sunsets

I love taking pictures of my daughter, when she decides she wants to, and I love capturing sunsets. So why not combine both? Challenge accepted!

Being a father is one of the most rewarding aspects of my life and I will drop anything to hang out with Maddy. Just hearing her talk about her day at school amazes me. This little person that I helped create is just an awesome kid. I think it's because she reminds me so much of who I was when I was her age and also who I wanted to be when I was her age.

On this particular day, she wanted to go watch the sunset. I was shocked because she has never made that request. So I was pretty excited so I grabbed the camera and we headed out the door. Maddy made it more amazing than I could have ever imagined. She asked what star was next to the moon that evening. It turned out to be Venus.

It was truly a great experience and I'm so glad we got to do it together. Thankfully there's a big open field across from my apartment and I can get some pretty dramatic sunsets.

The sunsets are beautiful, but I think the time spent with Maddy was the highlight for me. I won't go on a tirade about fathers that don't take out a little time to spend with their kids, but I would encourage all dads to try to spend more time if possible. I just let her talk and I listen. I learn so much about her as a little person. I can't wait until our next adventure.
