I was recently nominated for an Artsy Award for Best Photographer! I was truly humbled to even be nominated. To be recognized by your peers as one of the best is always a great feeling. Ironically, I never wanted to be a photographer. I always wanted to be a writer and bought a camera because I couldn't afford to pay someone to take pictures for me. I taught myself most of the things I know and I've also learned from not only great photographers, but great people.

I was so nervous about this award. I wanted to win but I was still happy just being recognized. I don't even remember them calling my name or what I said as an acceptance speech. It was a complete whirlwind of emotions. It was an awesome feeling.

Also shoutout to Webb Tailor Shop for the cool blue tuxedo!! Mr Webb is the best. The tux was so cool I had to do an impromptu photoshoot!!

I want to publicly thank Cameron Osbourne of Height Lounge for even having the thought of the ARTSY Awards. I know that just being nominated was a huge deal for me. We don't have as many opportunities in our community to be recognized for our hard work and I thank you for giving us the chance. I was so proud to be in that room with all the other creatives. Ever since I've known Cam, he's always been selfless and wanted everyone to win. Thank you for that. That's how we build a community.

I will cherish my Artsy the most if I'm ever blessed to win another award. Our awards matter! Thank you so much Cameron for making this possible.

Award winning photographer has a nice ring to it!
