I love beer. I really love beer. I’m no beer connoisseur by any means, but I know what I like and what I don’t like. I don’t go around looking for a hint of this or a drop of that. I just drink it and either love or hate the taste. I tend to stick to Ales, Hefeweizen, and every now and then the fruit based beers. I normally stay away from the IPAs and Stouts.
I wrapped up a video interview at Hattiloo Theater and had a little time before I needed to get home. So I ran across the street to The Second Line, which is a super dope place to eat, and got a quick beer. I checked what they had on tap and the bartender recommended High Cotton Brewery seasonal brew, Christmas Oatmeal Stout.
I’ve had an oatmeal stout before and it was horrible. I vowed to never try another, but this day I was in the good mood. That and I’m still in Christmas mode and it’s freaking got Christmas in the name! I’m a pretty basic man!
I can’t lie, I really enjoyed it. It’s not as thick as the last oatmeal stout I had. This one actually tasted very good. Kudos High Cotton. Y’all did the damn thing. I’m not sure how long this brew will be available since it’s a seasonal, but go grab a pint and tell me what you think. If you don’t like it, let me know why.
