When I was a kid, I would watch wrestling every Saturday morning on Channel 5 in the barbershop with my dad. You would hear that iconic theme music with the rotating statue and you knew it was about to go down. I was in heaven watching Jerry Lawler, Coco B Ware, Bill Dundee, The Moon Dogs, and others. I remember seeing Sid Vicious get power drived by Jerry Lawler into the hood of a Toyota Celica. I don’t care what anybody says, that was real mane. Fight me if you disagree with me.

Disclaimer: I took my new Tamron 28-75 f2.8 because I wanted a zoom. I had to crank the ISO up to 16000 and up to get these shots.

Over the weekend I got to check out 901 Wrestling at The Rec Room and I was very impressed. I was really amazed at how those dudes were able to squeeze into those tights. Do they need any help getting into them? Anyways, I met up with the Commissioner of 901 Wrestling, Kontar Macklin, who is freaking huge. He’s got all these muscles for no reason, but I definitely want to stay on his good side so forget I said that. The Commish has a very good product going here that’s not only fun, but very family friendly.

I loved every minute of the wrestling matches. There was plenty of spandex, crowd participation and body slamming. Coupled with cheap prices of Rec Room’s bar, it was a great night. I might go ahead and start my professional wrestling career. I feel like I could really be successful. I just gotta think of a cool wrestling name. The Great Mempho?? It’s a work in progress.  I also got to hang with two heavy hitters over at The Memphis Flyer, Michael Donahue and Anthony Sain. The only thing that sucked was the long lines at the bar, but I ended up double fisting it so I wouldn’t have to go back as many times. You can check out 901 Wrestling Facebook page for upcoming events. Also check out The Rec Room as well. The place is really awesome.
